My Story

The Spark That Started It All

Jenny Gwinn McGlothern, author and coach

At my 40th birthday, I gathered twelve women for a three-day getaway. We laughed, reflected, and rested in ways we hadn’t allowed ourselves to in years. Before we left, each woman said the same thing: “I wish I could do this more often—it’s exactly what I needed.”

That gathering planted a seed. For years, people had come to me for perspective, grounding, and guidance. Friends would ask if I was a life coach. When I said no, they’d smile and say, “Well, you should be. I’d hire you.” It’s a powerful thing when the people in your life see you clearly and they go out of their way to  show you who you’ve been all along.

From One Retreat to Hundreds

Not long after, I planned my first retreat. I rented a big house, hired two friends to cook, and six women showed up. It was beautiful and transformative, but I realized not everyone could step away for a full weekend. So I created something smaller: a five-hour “mini-retreat” filled with reflection, journaling, nuggets of change, and sacred conversation. That first sack-lunch reconnection to self in 2010 became the seed of something much bigger.

Since then, I’ve led hundreds of gatherings for women and teens to unplug from life’s noise and reconnect with their own wisdom.

Becoming a Coach, Teacher, and Guide

Along the way, I became a Certified Life Coach, raised two kids, taught and certified coaches for six years, created The Anchored Deck and wrote Mama Needs a Refill: Finding Light in the Midst of Madness, both offering change, support and guidance to living anchored to your truth.

Today, I work as a coach, guide, facilitator, and speaker—creating circles, workshops, and one-on-one sessions that invite reflection, creativity, and deep personal growth. But my favorite part of this work is always the same: sitting across from someone, witnessing their breakthroughs, and helping them remember that their answers have been inside them all along.

I laughed, I cried and I reflected in my coaching sessions with Jenny. Working with Jenny created an atmosphere that helped me feel relaxed and safe. In this space, I had the opportunities to explore my emotions and trust my instincts so that I could “find my voice”. And find my voice I did. A lifetime of holding my breath has been set free!

My Philosophy

We all face moments that feel heavy; in those times, we often forget our own strength or lose sight of what matters. My philosophy is simple: when we slow down long enough to listen, clarity always rises to meet us. We find ourselves again, and it is a wildly magical experience. My role is to walk beside you with compassion, curiosity, and humor as you rediscover your confidence, purpose, and peace. And, I am always in wonder and awe of the growth and appreciative to be part of this moment.
